Earlier this year, BeyondTrust was named an Overall Leader, Product Leader, Innovation Leader, and Market Leader in the 2025 KuppingerCole® Leadership Compass™ for Enterprise Secrets Management. This validation underscores our proven ability to meet evolving market needs, as well as manage identities, access rights, and permissions across multicloud and hybrid environments.

Secrets management is a critical piece of enterprise security strategies in 2025, as cloud-based IT environments grow in complexity, more businesses move towards zero-trust architectures, and compliance requirements become more demanding.

Solutions with secrets management capabilities directly address common challenges, such as secrets sprawl, insufficient visibility across domains, default hardcoded credentials within a range of systems, and inadequate secrets lifecycle management. They offer features that manage secrets used for human and non-human identities, identify and monitor the secrets lifecycle across environments, and much more.

The 2025 KuppingerCole Enterprise Secrets Management report named BeyondTrust a leader in all four categories evaluated. The report highlights how our offerings cross multiple identity disciplines, including Privileged Access Management (PAM), Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management (CIEM), and Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR). It also called out our Paths to Privilege™ mapping capabilities and enhanced visibility and comprehensive controls across disparate environments.

Secrets Management Market Trends in 2025

According to KuppingerCole, the secrets management market is rapidly evolving as businesses confront the complexity of today’s technology, changing regulatory requirements, and increasing operational demands.

A key highlight is the market’s move from solely focusing on Enterprise Key and Certificate Management for human credentials to also addressing Workload Identity Management. Machine identities can be daunting to manage, due to the proliferation of microservices, hardcoded secrets, and fragmented systems. As a result, vendors in this space are focusing on capabilities that support NHIs and integrate seamlessly into DevOps toolchains.

Additionally, secrets management has started to converge with other identity and access management (IAM) domains, including CIEM and PAM. Platform approaches that offer visibility across these different domains are becoming more prevalent, especially for large enterprises.

As the Enterprise Secrets Management market continues to shift and address more complexity across disparate systems, KuppingerCole states, “vendors that can deliver comprehensive, adaptable solutions will be well-positioned to meet the dynamic needs of modern enterprises.”

BeyondTrust’s Standout Secrets Management Features

KuppingerCole’s report also recognized our solution’s standout features, including the following:

Multi-Disciplinary Approach to Identity Security

According to the report, “BeyondTrust has adeptly combined elements of privileged access and identity management into a unified platform.”

Our insights into human and machine identities, centralized interface, and numerous integrations were emphasized as standout features for enhanced visibility, analytics, and compliance across varied environments.

KuppingerCole also recognized our visualization of Paths to Privilege—a key feature in our solution that illustrates relationships between identities and resulting permissions. This True Privilege™ graph can reveal the connections between seemingly siloed identity risks related to secrets. For instance, a foothold in a low-privilege account could enable an attacker to conduct reconnaissance, find exposed secrets, and continue to escalate privileges from there.

To defend against these complex, multi-faceted attack vectors, BeyondTrust offers secrets management alongside Privileged Account and Session Management (PASM) capabilities. A few of these features include discovery and management of privileged accounts and credentials, just-in-time access to critical resources, credential rotation, and more.

Other Highlighted Features

KuppingerCole’s report also highlighted the following areas in BeyondTrust’s solution:

  • Integrations with essential DevOps tools such as GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Ansible, enabling enterprises to manage and secure critical secrets without sacrificing developer productivity.
  • Advanced features, including file encryption, secrets rotation, automation, and comprehensive API capabilities.
  • Integrated dashboards and analytics for supporting compliance and governance initiatives.
  • Ambitious roadmap for enhanced CI/CD support, cloud tokens, and API management.

According to the report, “Organizations from sectors such as healthcare, finance, and higher education, which require streamlined identity management and security compliance, will find value in the integrated capabilities of BeyondTrust. Given its strategic enhancements and comprehensive roadmap, BeyondTrust remains a strong choice for enterprises seeking advanced identity management solutions.”
