  • BeyondTrust strengthens partnership with US federal government by achieving Department of Defense information networks (DoDIN) certification, supporting zero trust cybersecurity initiatives
  • Certified solutions enforce least privilege and privileged access controls, reducing the risk of cyber threats in DoD environments

Atlanta, GA – October 31, 2024 – BeyondTrust, the global cybersecurity leader protecting Paths to Privilege™, today announced that its Password Safe (PWS) and Endpoint Privilege Management (EPM) solutions have achieved certification for the Department of Defense information network (DoDIN) Approved Products List (APL). These solutions provide comprehensive support for the Department of Defense’s (DoD) zero trust directive, bolstering cybersecurity by securing privileged credentials and enforcing least privilege access across critical systems:

  • BeyondTrust Password Safe simplifies privileged password and session management, providing secure discovery, management, and auditing of privileged credentials. It enables DoD agencies to meet zero trust identity requirements, offering adaptive access control, advanced privileged threat analytics, and continuous verification.
  • BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management enforces least privilege policies on DoD workstations and servers, elevating privileges for specific tasks while maintaining tight control over applications with trust-based allow listing and policy-based management.

The DoD’s zero trust strategy requires the elimination of lateral movement by 2027, mandating strict controls on privileged access to reduce cyber risk. In the Defense Department, the term “zero trust” refers to a nascent cybersecurity framework and set of 152 activities collectively meant to enable non-stop monitoring and constant authentication to secure critical national security data and information. BeyondTrust's newly certified solutions directly address these needs, implementing 14 zero trust identity activities while enhancing an additional 55 activities. The combined solutions from BeyondTrust provide the highest level of risk reduction in terms of privilege escalation and asset compromise, key elements for maintaining security within DoD environments.

“Achieving DoD Approved Product Listing for our Endpoint Privilege Management and Password Safe solutions is a significant milestone for BeyondTrust,” said Sam Elliott, Senior Vice President of Products at BeyondTrust. “This certification highlights our commitment to delivering secure, compliant solutions that help DoD agencies meet the 2027 zero trust directive.”

This certification follows BeyondTrust’s recent milestone in advancing federal cybersecurity initiatives. BeyondTrust signed the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)’s Secure by Design pledge, aligning with other industry leaders to build safer, more transparent technology products. This initiative highlights BeyondTrust's dedication to integrating security at every stage of product development, minimizing vulnerabilities, and ensuring technology is secure from the moment of deployment.

“BeyondTrust is dedicated to strengthening our collaboration with the US federal government in safeguarding national infrastructure and ensuring the highest security standards are met,” said Sara Hobson, Senior Vice President, Public Sector at BeyondTrust. “Our solutions fully implement key zero trust identity activities, offering DoD agencies unmatched value in reducing privilege escalation risk and meeting zero trust mandates.”
