The typical replacement products, depending on your deployment and needs, are:

  • Password Safe (Cloud)
  • Privilege Management (Cloud)
  • Virtual Appliance, VMWare or Hyper-V (Based on Windows Server 2022)
  • AWS or Azure Marketplace (Based on Windows Server 2022)
  • Physical Appliance (Based on Windows Server 2016)

A simple way to verify the OS (Server 2012 vs. Server 2016) is by accessing the U-Series appliance web page and looking at the Security Updates from the Maintenance menu under the BeyondTrust Updates page. These updates state whether they are for 2012 or 2016 and the date will correspond with the underlying appliance OS.

For example, on a 2012 appliance you may see:

  • Security Patches for Windows Server 2012
  • U-Series 2012 Environment
  • U-Series 2012 Supporting Software

On a 2016 appliance you may see:

  • Security Patches for SQL 2016
  • Security Patches for Windows Server 2016
  • U-Series 2016 Environment
