Avecto, the leader in Windows privilege management, today announced that it has been named a finalist in the BCS & Computing UK IT Industry Awards in the "Security Innovation of the Year" category. The prestigious UK IT Industry Awards are a platform for the entire profession to celebrate best practice, innovation and excellence. Avecto was selected as a finalist based on the innovation and success of Privilege Guard, the company's flagship software for Windows least privilege management.
"Congratulations to all the finalists. They can be proud of their achievements," said David Clarke, chief executive officer, BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. "Their projects and work showcase the professionalism that exists among IT professionals and also highlights the value of IT today and the way it touches so many areas of society."
Avecto Privilege Guard is the industry's most comprehensive solution for enabling the security principle of least privilege in Windows environments. Privilege Guard eliminates the need to assign admin rights to users and allows enterprises to dynamically assign these rights to applications, tasks and scripts. Privilege Guard enables users to log on to Windows desktops and servers with minimal rights while empowering them to perform their day-to-day role, leading to increased security, simplified compliance with industry regulations and reduced support costs.
"I would like to add my congratulations to the finalists," said Robin Booth, publishing director of Computing. "The UK IT Industry Awards are rigorously judged and to be announced as a finalist is a great achievement. I don't envy the judges who now have to decide the winners; it's going to be very tough."
"Avecto is honored to receive this finalist nomination from one of the industry's most prestigious awards programs," said Tony Bolland, chief executive officer of Avecto. "This recognition demonstrates the crucial role that Avecto's least privilege management solutions play in securing enterprises, and provides tremendous validation of the combined efforts of all of the members of our organization."
Finalists judging for this year's UK IT Industry Awards will take place on Friday, Oct. 1. Winners and medalists will be announced at an awards dinner on Thursday, Nov. 11 at Battersea Park Events Arena, London.
