  3. Top 10 Reasons To Bridge UNIX, Linux And Mac To Active Directory
In the spirit of keeping blog posts informative, short and fun, this one takes a cue from David Letterman in format. So without further fanfare or wasted space... as David Letterman would say, "Here's today's top ten"... zingers related to securing your Linux, Unix, and Mac systems with Active Directory. Funny on a blog but not very funny if they happen in your IT environment! #10 The rogue art department full of Mac users won't keep buying unnecessary software from the App store. #9 Jimmer in Development won't accidentally leak company IP because he thinks that Dropbox.com is a secure place to store his latest versions of the source code. #8 Gina the Executive Admin won't accidentally reveal her passwords when she trades in her keyboard for a new one without removing the sticky notes with her passwords tacked underneath. #7 Randall the accountant can rest easy knowing that his accounting server is secure and none of the SEs can find out how much everyone else makes and demand raises. #6 Sally won't call the IT admin for the 3rd time this week because she can't remember her various passwords for login to her desktop, SSH, Apache, JBoss. #5 Fiona in IT ops doesn't fear the impeding audit because someone that hasn't worked for the company for 3 years won't still have a NIS account. #4 George the IT architect doesn't worry about someone logging into the vSphere hypervisor as root and dumping a couple of VMs onto jump drive. #3 Arne the Air Force Colonel got his smartcard access tied to his AD credentials so he can access his top-secret command dashboard on his field laptop. #2 Erin the auditor at Moss-Adams is coming next week and looks forward to seeing clear evidence of SOX compliance in concise reports. [drumroll please] #1 Barry the CIO just decided the entire bank was migrating from Windows XP to Ubuntu instead of Windows 7, and he knows this transition can be seamless from an AD perspective.
