Cheadle-based Windows privilege management firm, Avecto, has selected St. Ann's Hospice as its charity for the year, with aims to raise £6,000 to pay for a day of care at the hospice's Heald Green site.
St. Ann's Hospice, which is also headquartered in Cheadle, is one of the oldest hospices in the country with a reputation for delivering first-class care. With three sites across Greater Manchester and Cheshire, the charity helps and cares for around 3,000 patients each year, improving the quality of life for those who suffer from a life-limiting illness. It currently employs over 400 staff, and is supported by over 800 volunteers to run the hospice 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Avecto, which was named the fastest growing technology company in the North by Deloitte's Fast 50, is aiming to raise enough money to "pay for a day" - the cost of keeping the hospice's Heald Green site running for 24 hours.
The firm is organizing a series of fundraising events and fun days including its recent Red vs. Blue event for the Manchester derby which raised £800. Additionally, individuals from the company are taking part in events such as the Fred Whitton cycling challenge and Great Manchester Run.
Paul Kenyon, co-founder and EVP of Avecto said: "St. Ann's Hospice was chosen as our nominated charity following a staff vote and it proved a popular choice. The hospice provides specialist care for thousands of people affected by life-limiting illness throughout our region and relies heavily on external donations as only 30% of its funds are provided by the NHS. We have been inspired by the fantastic work that the team at St. Ann's does and we are looking forward to helping the charity through a variety of sponsored events and challenges."
Hannah Saunders, Corporate Fundraiser at St. Ann's Hospice added: "It's brilliant to see this much enthusiasm and drive from a local firm like Avecto. We need to raise around £6 million a year to run the hospice, so every donation is very valuable and paying for a day of care at one of our sites goes a long way to making our patients feel comfortable and at home."
Avecto will be joining other corporate sponsors including Adidas and BetFred in the effort to raise money for St. Ann's.
