Today, Avecto are very excited to announce our latest and greatest release, Privilege Guard 3.8.
Packed with unique and innovative features, version 3.8 really does set Privilege Guard apart in terms of our ability to solve real challenges when implementing least privilege. Our experience in delivering successful projects to some of the world's largest organizations has helped us understand what is important; ensuring that users are given a seamless, hassle-free and productive experience when logged on as a standard user.
So what's new in 3.8? Below is a list of just some of the new features and enhancements, and I will be posting more blogs over the next few days to dig a little deeper...
Remote PowerShell Control
PowerShell commands and PowerShell scripts executed through a WinRM remote connections can now be elevated or allow listed, eliminating the need for IT to connect with an administrator account.
Service Control
Standard users can now be granted privileges to start, stop or edit individual services, eliminating the need to elevate tools such as Services.msc or Net.exe.
MSI Uninstall Elevation
MSI packages can now be granted privileges based on whether they would trigger a UAC prompt.
Drive Rule
A new validation rule which allows targeting of applications based on whether they are installed on a fixed, network or removable drive.
Message Notifications
A new type of End User Message, displayed as a bubble style notification as an alternative to a message prompt, further enhancing the user experience.
Policy Automation API
PowerShell interface to the Privilege Guard Policy, allowing automated creation and management of policies via PowerShell scripts.
Web Policy Distribution
Privilege Guard Clients can now be configured to pull policies hosted on a webserver via URL, based on a configurable schedule.
Improved Challenge / Response
Administrators can now optionally define the time that users are allowed to use an authorized application as part of the response code generation.
Privileged Account Protection Dashboard (Enterprise Reporting)
New dashboard that provides a detailed drilldown summary of all attempted and blocked modifications to local privileged groups.
