BeyondTrust & Oracle, The Perfect Partnership

img-oracle-logoNo one will dispute that Oracle is a heavyweight when it comes to the relational database market, but Oracle is far more than a one trick pony. Oracle has a plethora of enterprise products and hardware solutions that will fit the needs of almost any business. However the key to success for many of the software giants is to remain nimble and fill the gaps in their offering, which is where partnerships such as the one between BeyondTrust and Oracle are so important. This long-standing partnership has recently seen the introduction of the PowerBroker for Unix & Linux solution set being included with some of Oracles key initiatives in this space. With the acquisition of Sun back in 2010, Oracle became a leading provider of hardware and software in the Unix/Linux space, adding to products like Oracle Linux and Oracle VM. Oracle is fast becoming a one stop shop for the infrastructure needs of many. Oracle and BeyondTrust teamed up to bullet-proof your Enterprise Linux Environment, ensuring that users and admins alike only have access to what they need, while providing a completely secure indelible audit trail of their activities. Oracle Linux with PowerBroker for Unix & Linux installed provides capabilities like privileged command delegation, also called privileged command control and privileged command management. In addition to this easy to use least privileged access model, the tool set also provides session based DVR recordings (a.k.a. IO Logging) and full event logging/auditing. Installing and configuring the BeyondTrust products on new systems is both quick and easy to do, by centralizing the policy files and logs PowerBroker for Unix & Linux will not only reduce the time needed for planning all the way through to deployment, but significantly simplify the on-going management of systems which in turn will result in substantial time savings for both administration and audit reviews for a long time to come. Just as SUDO has been provided across many flavors of Unix and Linux in the past, the use of BeyondTrust tools ushers in a new era in privileged account control and monitoring for *NIX platforms. The additional control and flexibility will finally give administrators the abilities they have so badly needed in order to build the most secure environment possible without sacrificing usability. Some of the capabilities that will be available through this partnership are: Centralized Configuration
  • - Centralized Policy Management
  • - Centralized Event Logging
  • - Centralized IO Logging
  • - Root & Privileged Account Delegation
  • - Enhanced Secure Shells and Utilities
