Endpoint Privilege Management for Mac 23.9.1 Release Notes

December 14, 2023

Requirements:

  • Trellix (formerly McAfee) Agent (required if you are installing the Privilege Management client with Trellix)

New Features and Enhancements:

  • Updated the macOS status bar menu to use Apple's Swift language from macOS Ventura onwards by default. This will provide better usability, performance, and better align to Apple's Human Interface Guidelines.
  • Updated the way Endpoint Privilege Management for Mac controls authorization requests when destroying rights in macOS Sonoma. This resolves issues using macOS features: Erase All Content & Settings, Startup Disk System, and Disk Utility.

Issues Resolved:

  • Resolved an issue when the user exceeded the Maximum attempts of 3 with a challenge / response message and the message could not then be authorized with the new code provided.
  • Resolved an issue where Endpoint Privilege Management for Mac sudo messaging would be included in redirected outputs by having our sudo messaging output to the TTY directly instead of the stderr and stdout streams.
  • Resolved an issue with password masking showing the length of the password when entered in a sudo rule. For every character entered in the password an * is displayed. With the update, users can no longer see the password length which is inline with sudo behavior.
  • Resolved an issue when using sudo with ask once per session configured which would mean the message body would be displayed incorrectly when repeatedly running commands.

Known Issues:

Using Run with Privilege Management for the Console.app in macOS will not work. This is due to changes with macOS which we’ve raised with Apple with a Feedback assistant ticket FB9739423. Please contact your Apple SE and reference this ticket ID.
