BeyondTrust Introduces PowerADvantage 2.0
Privilege Identity Management Simplified Across Disparate Systems at Reduced Costs
AGOURA HILLS, Calif. — April 21, 2010 – BeyondTrust, the leading provider of Privileged Access Lifecycle Management solutions, today announced PowerADvantage 2.0, enabling organizations to consolidate their UNIX/Linux identities in Active Directory. PowerADvantage is optimized for usage with BeyondTrust PowerBroker, enabling organizations to harness the benefits of identity consolidation into a single repository, while they use PowerBroker to secure their UNIX/Linux infrastructure.
PowerADvantage integrates UNIX/Linux hosts into Active Directory, enabling organizations to save costs by consolidating their heterogeneous identity environment into a single directory. PowerADvantage reduces administrative overhead involved with maintaining multiple identity stores, reduces help desk costs relating to lost or misplaced passwords/login credentials, and makes employees more productive through the use of a single set of credentials across UNIX/Linux and Windows systems.
“The release of PowerADvantage 2.0 is yet another proof-point of BeyondTrust’s momentum on delivering the industry leading Privileged Identity Management solution for heterogeneous environments,” said Saurabh Bhatnagar, VP of product management.”PowerADvantage is a great complement to our PowerBroker product line that secures UNIX/Linux systems – it removes the need for separate islands of identity for such systems, and provides direct tangible cost and productivity benefits for infrastructure managers and users alike.”
Based on feedback from customers, BeyondTrust PowerADvantage 2.0 introduces new enhancements to effectively bridge the enterprise-wide management of privileged identities across disparate systems. Companies that manage user privileges in their server environments with PowerBroker will be able to rely on PowerADvantage to leverage Active Directory in order to access all trusted domains with one user account managed in one central directory. Release highlights include:
- Foreign Domain Support – PowerADvantage allows users to securely log on across hosts in trusted foreign AD domains using their AD user name and password. This enables PowerADvantage to be leveraged enterprise-wide with typical Active Directory setups.
- Enhanced Administrative Templates (ADMs) – Companies who manage enterprise-wide privileges for their servers with PowerBroker will have increased functionality via administrative templates. Enhanced PowerBroker Administrative Templates (ADMs) feature multiple new settings for PowerBroker 6.0, enabling finer administration of PowerBroker.
- Windows 2008 and RFC 2307 Support – New functionalities in PowerADvantage will provide investment protection for clients by supporting Windows 2008 with fine-grained password policies, Kerberos AES encryption, read-only domain controllers and 64-bit support for Windows Active Directory snap-ins. RFC 2307 support enables users and groups in a context to use RFC 2307 extensions in Active Directory.
Companies can now realize a complete privilege management strategy enabled by all privileged identities stored in Active Directory for secure and compliant central management.
