LONDON, 8 June 2016 – SITS16 – Bomgar, a leader in privileged access solutions, today announced that Bomgar Remote Support now supports seamless credential injection to remote systems, allowing support technicians to gain approved access to remote systems without ever viewing the login credentials or passwords. The first remote support solution to support credential injection, Bomgar is improving the way support and service organizations access and protect their systems. Credential injection is driven by integration with password vaults, such as Bomgar Vault, to give support teams the remote access they need without revealing plain text credentials and passwords, which are commonly phished.
When accessing remote desktops and systems, Bomgar Remote Support users can now simply select from a list of credentials that have privileges on the systems they’re approved to access. This eliminates the need to manually store and track credentials in spreadsheets or on sticky notes, significantly improving security and productivity. With credential injection, support teams no longer waste valuable time hunting for and typing in credentials, allowing them to immediately access and begin working on remote desktops and devices, improving time to resolution. In addition, by injecting credentials directly into the target system and masking passwords from users, they’re not at risk from key loggers or other tools that a bad actor may have installed on the user’s desktop to steal passwords.
“The primary focus of an IT service desk is to keep the business up and running and resolve issues as quickly as possible. Eliminating the need to manually memorize or track lists of credentials allows technicians to spend more time doing their jobs,” said Donald Hasson, director of ITSM product management, Bomgar. “Taking plain text credentials out of support reps’ hands greatly reduces our customers’ liability. By making it easier for our customers’ service desks to gain access to remote systems, credential injection makes it easy for them to adopt and follow security best practices.”
“When security organizations consider their privileged users, the service desk is often overlooked,” added Sam Elliott, director of security product management, Bomgar. “But they often have the same admin credentials and access rights as privileged users. Hackers are persistently looking for these ‘keys to the kingdom’ to gain a foothold into secure networks, and help desks are a prime target. By enabling credential injection with Bomgar Remote Support, in addition to Bomgar Privileged Access, we’re taking an unprecedented step towards improving remote access security across organizations.”
Credential injection is available in Bomgar Remote Support 16.1 integrated with a password vault solution. This week, Bomgar is exhibiting and demonstrating its secure access solutions, including Bomgar Remote Support and Bomgar Vault, during the SITS16 conference in London at stand #416.
