The Role:

The Principal User Experience (UX) Designer will lead high-profile projects for the BeyondTrust security software platforms. As the Principal UX Designer, you will be responsible for creating exceptional user experiences, developing design strategies, as well as mentoring and guiding the UX team in executing design projects. You will work within product teams and collaborate closely with stakeholders, including product managers, developers, domain specialists, and a content writer to shape the overall user experience vision and ensure it aligns with business objectives.

What You’ll Do:

Develop and Drive UX Design Strategy:

  • Support the Director of UX Product Design in shaping the overall UX design vision, strategy, and roadmap for product experiences, considering user needs and business goals.
  • Work with UX researchers to identify usability testing initiatives and analyze feedback to inform design decisions to continuously enhance the user experience.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, support, and relevant resources to a team of UX designers, promoting growth and development in their skillset.
  • Support the UX design practice by actively seeking process improvements, driving productive change, and running exercises to encourage widespread UX adoption.
  • Act as the UX “go-to” across the pillars of the company, with in-depth knowledge of user interface best practices, company design system standards, and supportive research to direct recommendations.

Create Exceptional User Experiences:

  • Work on product roadmap initiatives, as well as being proactive in identifying UX enhancements within products; creating validated improvement suggestions that can be added to the product roadmap.
  • Lead the design process, including user-centric design thinking, ideation, wireframing, prototyping, and user testing.
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps.
  • Design intuitive and visually compelling user interfaces, utilizing the Shield BeyondTrust Design System, as well as identifying improvements to align with the overall user experience strategy.
  • Evolve company design language and standards.
  • Research to push through design tasks when necessary.

Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams:

  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops to define project strategy, measurable success goals, and ideation sessions to ensure the product team is engaged, heard, and aligned to a common product outcome and shared vision.
  • Work closely with product managers, product owners, developers, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and technical constraints to ensure the successful implementation of design solutions.
  • Communicate and collaborate with marketing, sales, support, and executive management to maintain trusted relationships and encourage feedback avenues.
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles, promoting a culture of user empathy across the organization.

Self-Growth and Development:

  • Keep abreast of developments in the sector of User Experience and Cyber Security, by proactively researching online material and attending courses and conferences (a generous training budget is provided).
  • Challenge your self-development by identifying and setting strategic goals towards sectors and professional skills you wish to improve upon.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of user experience design experience for enterprise/desktop software, web applications, mobile platforms, and other standard technologies ideally in Cyber or Security.
  • Exceptional knowledge of user research methodologies, usability testing, and design thinking processes.
  • Ability to mentor and coach UX Designers, and to provide guidance to bring out their best work.
  • Comfort in working with remote distributed teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong conceptualization ability, strong visual communication ability, and attention to detail.
  • Capacity to act on immediate needs while building the long-term vision and strategy.
  • Understanding of common software development practices and proficiency in working within a software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Ability to balance UX design team mentoring, hands-on UX work, and provide input for product decisions.
  • Self-starter; eager and able to quickly learn new technologies and approaches.
  • Can successfully build and maintain relationships with developers and managers and can champion the UX team’s ideas within the organization.
  • Must be self-reliant but be able to communicate and contribute in a remote team setting.
  • Able to organize, multitask and prioritize.

  • User experience design experience for enterprise cyber security software.
