The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in March 2007 issued the Federal Desktop Core Configuration (FDCC) mandate which requires government agencies to comply with standard Windows XP and Vista security configurations. The goal is to improve the government's information security and reduce IT operating costs. The FDCC mandate, which is based on a similar initiative undertaken by the Air Force, will require agencies to restrict administrator rights on all PCs by Feb. 1, 2008.

The edict demands that administrative rights be restricted in order to maintain the standard configurations, as it is impossible to control how users configure their computers when they are administrators. Additionally any system operating with administrative privileges is at high risk of running or installing, unauthorized applications and being exploited by malware and malicious users.

Already in use at multiple Air Force locations to enforce the standard configurations on which the FDCC requirements are based, BeyondTrust Privilege Manager facilitates compliance by enabling government computer users to log in to Windows without administrative privileges while transparently allowing them to run or install all authorized applications. Without Privilege Manager, users must be given administrator privileges or aided by the IT Helpdesk to run countless government and military applications, install approved software and ActiveX controls, or to self maintain certain system settings.

Join members of the BeyondTrust team for this educational and informative Webinar to learn how to:

  • Eliminate users from running as local Administrator or Power User to comply with the FDCC
  • Allow users without Administrative Privileges to run all required applications and processes
  • Enable restricted users to self install approved applications and ActiveX controls

Who should attend?
