If you wish to obtain PowerBroker on CD-ROM, please contact your BeyondTrust sales representative. 2.1 WEB SITE ACCESS You will need a username and password to access the download area on the web site. Section 6, OBTAINING ACCOUNTS AND LICENSES describes how to obtain these. The same username and password can be used to access any item available from the download area. On www.beyondtrust.com, click on the SUPPORT menu, select DOWNLOADS, then POWERSERIES, and follow the instructions on the page. Select the required release from the appropriate table on the PowerBroker Download page and click on the hyperlink. This downloads the appropriate tarball (see Section 1, SELECTING THE RIGHT POWERBROKER RELEASE) that must be expanded as described in Section 3, EXPANDING THE TARBALLS. ______________________________ 3. EXPANDING THE TARBALLS Once you have obtained the appropriate tarball for your platform, you may expand it as follows: 1. Login as root. 2. Extract the compressed files: - cd (anywhere EXCEPT /tmp) - uncompress .tar.Z or gunzip .tar.Z - tar -xvf .tar If you want to proceed with the installation, refer to the PowerBroker manual, "PowerBroker Installation Guide". _____________________________ 4. HOW TO OBTAIN MANUALS The PowerBroker manuals are provided separately. They are available on the Web. If you wish to receive PowerBroker manuals on CD-ROM, please contact your BeyondTrust sales representative. The PowerBroker manuals consist of several PDF files. You will need Adobe(R) Acrobat Reader(R) to read these files. This program is free and available for download at: http://www.adobe.com 4.1 WEB SITE ACCESS You will need a username and password to access the manuals from the Web. This login is the same login required for downloading PowerBroker. See Section 6, OBTAINING ACCOUNTS AND LICENSES. On www.beyondtrust.com, click on the SUPPORT menu, select DOWNLOADS, then POWERSERIES, and follow the instructions on the page. The PowerBroker manuals are available under the DOCUMENTATION tab on the PowerBroker Download page. Click the link to download the tarball. You should expect to download pbmanuals_.tar. Expand the tarball in the same directory you untarred the product tarball. This places several modules in PDF format in the directory. ____________________ 5. SERVICEPACKS As a way to perform maintenance on the binaries used by PowerBroker, BeyondTrust issues occasional ServicePack releases. Refer to BeyondTrust web site to view the list of all service packs. _______________________________________ 6. OBTAINING ACCOUNTS AND LICENSES PowerBroker can be accessed from a Web browser. Access via the web site requires a username and password. If you do not have a web site login for PowerBroker, contact your BeyondTrust sales representative. 6.1 TEMPORARY LICENSES The PowerBroker software will not run without a valid license. If you do not have a permanent license for PowerBroker, request a temporary license from your BeyondTrust sales representative. _____________________________ 7. BEYONDTRUST SUPPORT POLICY BeyondTrust provides bug fixes for PowerBroker versions before their End of Maintenance date. When a new version is released, the End of Maintenance date is established for the prior version. This date is 27 months after the release date for the new version. The End of Maintenance date for the newest version will be not established until the next version comes out. Therefore, the End of Maintenance for the newest version is always at least 27 months from the current date. During this period BeyondTrust will provide Technical Support and bug fixes. After a version has passed its End of Maintenance date, BeyondTrust will continue to provide Technical Support but will no longer provide bug fixes or code upgrades on those versions. 7.1 OPERATING SYSTEMS SUPPORTED There are two categories of PowerBroker-Operating System combinations available. These are: Current Systems: This is a list of operating systems on which the current version of PowerBroker is maintained and receives full support. These PowerBroker versions will be updated if necessary to fix problems with functionality and enhancements. Legacy Systems: This is a list of operating systems on which previously certified versions of PowerBroker are made available to customers, but are not supported by the current version. _____________________________ 8.
