Leading Least Privilege Management Product for Windows Also Honored as "Best of Tech·Ed" Awards Finalist for Security by Windows IT Pro, SQL Server Magazine and Office & Sharepoint Pro.com
Portsmouth, NH—June 25, 2007— BeyondTrust Corporation, the first provider of Least Privilege Management solutions, today announced that Privilege Manager 3.0 was named a 2007 winner of the "Tech·Ed Attendees’ Pick" award in the Security category by Penton Media’s Windows IT Pro®, SQL Server Magazine® and Office & Sharepoint Pro.com.
Attendees at the Tech·Ed show in Orlando, Fla., chose the winners from a field of IT products and services submitted for the contest.
"Tech·Ed attendees are tough, in-the-trenches critics," said Kim Paulsen, group publisher. "They demand solid value and performance from the products they use and put those products to the test every day. Attendees’ Pick award-winners can feel proud that their products and services have earned the respect and recognition of this discerning audience."
BeyondTrust Privilege Manager 3.0 was also named a Security category finalist for the Best of Tech·Ed 2007 awards, rising to the top from a field of 260 entries. The finalists were chosen based on the product's strategic importance to the market, competitive advantages and value to the customer.
BeyondTrust Privilege Manager, initially released in 2004, is the first Least Privilege Management solution for Windows. With Privilege Manager, end users can run all required applications, processes and ActiveX controls without administrative privileges. Privilege Manager allows network administrators to attach permission levels to Windows applications to enforce enterprise security policy while still enabling users to perform approved activities. By removing the need to grant end users administrative rights, IT departments can eliminate what is otherwise the Achilles heel of the desktop – end users with administrative power that can be exploited by malware and malicious users to change security settings, disable other security solutions such as anti-virus and more. Privilege Manager is easy to implement as it plugs directly into Group Policy, the existing Windows security infrastructure. It is completely transparent to the end user, without pop-ups or dialogue boxes, and supports Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, and Vista.
"We’re honored to be recognized by the IT professionals that attended Tech·Ed as well as the editors of one of the world’s top Windows IT authorities," said John Moyer, BeyondTrust’s CEO. "This recognition demonstrates BeyondTrust Privilege Manager’s crucial role in securing Windows enterprises throughout the world."
