BeyondTrust Fuels Growth with Major International Channel Expansion

Pioneer in helping organizations to ‘Eliminate Admin Rights’ the World over Gaining Significant Channel Traction

PORTSMOUTH, NH. – May 1, 2008 — BeyondTrust Corporation is expanding its international channel based on the success of their flagship product, BeyondTrust Privilege Manager. Privilege Manager solves a security problem that effects nearly all organizations running Microsoft Windows and a problem area that has appeared on Internal Security Audits for years, end-users with local administrative rights. These rights can be exploited by malware and users to change standard security configuration settings, install unauthorized software, and compromise Windows networks. Companies have been unable to remove administrative rights as there is a business need to allow end-users to run applications that require administrative privileges, and to install approved software and ActiveX controls. Privilege Manager enables organizations to remove administrator rights while still allowing end-users to run all required Windows applications, processes and ActiveX controls.

As a business proposition to channel partners, Privilege Manager provides a new security best practice they can offer their customers that is suitable for all enterprise Windows networks. In a least privilege environment, users have the privileges necessary to perform their duties only when they need them. Every time a user is granted privileges that go beyond what is required for a specific task, the system is put at risk and open to attacks by spyware, malware, and malicious users. Privilege Manager is the first product to enable the security best practice of Least Privilege in a Windows environment, by allowing network administrators to attach permission levels to Windows applications and processes. Privilege Manager is implemented as a true Group Policy extension and is a solid business opportunity for Value Added Resellers, Systems Integrators, and Distributors selling into Microsoft Active Directory networks.

"BeyondTrust currently has about 50 partners worldwide, most are in the US and Canada, but we have recently added partners in Hong Kong, Australia/New Zealand, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, and Brazil," said Joe L’Italien VP of Worldwide Sales for BeyondTrust Corporation. "I see our channel expansion as a major driver to our worldwide sales growth. We expect to be present in all major markets by the end of the year and to drive the majority of our future revenue from our worldwide channel servicing all customer segments, including enterprise, commercial and SMB. We have established a solid message that resonates with customers, and addresses a well recognized security problem—it is natural for channel partners to be successful and to grow their businesses with BeyondTrust."

"Gaining traction with Privilege Manager and signing up new channel partners has been really great," said Stuart Reay, Managing Director for Arc Technology in the UK. "Every organization has this problem and just bringing up the subject entices IT management and network admins to want to evaluate the product. We also use webinars for prospects to see the products capabilities. Privilege Manager is a very easy product to demo, use, explain and sell."

About BeyondTrust Privilege Manager
BeyondTrust Privilege Manager, initially released in 2004, is the first Least Privilege Management solution for Windows. Privilege Manager enables network administrators to remove administrative privileges from end-users while still allowing end-users to run all required applications, processes and ActiveX controls that require administrative privileges. Privilege Manager lets network administrators attach permission levels to Windows applications to enforce enterprise security policy and enable users to perform approved activities. By removing the need to grant administrative rights to end-users, IT departments eliminate what is otherwise the Achilles heel of the desktop – end-users with administrative power that can be exploited by malware and malicious intent to change security settings and disable other security solutions. Privilege Manager is easy to implement. It plugs directly into Group Policy, the existing Windows security infrastructure. It is transparent to the end-user, without pop-ups or dialogue boxes, and supports Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003 and Windows Vista. In a Vista environment, Privilege Manager works with User Account Control to reduce pop-ups.
