Many Enterprise IT organizations currently utilize sudo to allow users to run programs with the security privileges of another user (normally the super user, or root). The scope of sudo is isolated to a single computer, which creates a number of challenges.

The PowerBroker Sudo Converter is a web application that runs within a Servlet container, and will run in any Servlet container on any platform with Java JDK v1.6 or later. Unix/Linux Version

For Windows, the following Web browsers and versions are supported:

  • Internet Explorer V7.0 and V8.0
  • Mozilla Firefox V2.0 and V3.0

For Unix/Linux, the supported Web browser is Mozilla Firefox V2.0 & V3.0.

For implementation at your datacentre the following platforms and databases are supported.

To install PowerBroker Sudo Converter, your server must have the following installed:

  • 2 GHz minimum processor speed is required, but faster processor speed or multi-core processors are recommended for production installations.
  • 3.0 GB minimum memory is required for Apache Tomcat and Apache ActiveMQ Message Broker. For a production installation, 4 GB memory is recommended. Also if your database is running on the same machine, additional memory is required. See the user documentation for your database for more information.
  • Operating system: Unix/Linux.
  • Java JDK V1.6 or later.
  • A Java-enabled Web server, such as Apache Tomcat or IBM WebSphere.
  • Databases supported:
    • Oracle 11i
    • Sun MySQL 5.1
    • PostgreSQL 8.3,
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008
    • Apache Derby 10.5
