Windows and Security Expert to Discuss How Enterprises Can Eliminate Administrative Rights for End-Users without Sacrificing Productivity

Agoura Hills, Calif. — October 22, 2009 - BeyondTrust, the leading provider of Privileged Access Lifecycle Management (PALM) solutions, today announced Chief Technology Officer Eric Voskuil will speak at the CSI 2009 conference at the Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, MD, October 24-30, 2009.

Who: Eric Voskuil, CTO, BeyondTrust
What: “Less Is More: Implementing a Security Best Practice of Least Privilege”
Where: CSI 2009 – Room: Chesapeake 6
When: Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 9:45 a.m. ET

Presentation Details
Voskuil will discuss the increased risk organizations face when end-users are granted administrative privileges. Microsoft’s introduction of User Account Control (UAC) in Windows Vista brought the principle of Least Privilege to the forefront for security professionals and spotlighted some of the challenges of removing administrative privileges from end-users. With the release of Windows 7, there is much to learn about the pros and cons of UAC and how Least Privilege can enhance enterprise network security.

Attendees to this session will learn how to eliminate administrative privileges without impacting end-users’ productivity, even in mixed OS environments.

Voskuil is the CTO of BeyondTrust, where he is responsible for market strategy and technical execution. Prior to BeyondTrust, Voskuil co-founded DesktopStandard in 1998, conceptualized several successful products and sold the company to Microsoft in 2006. As a Software Architect in the Management and Services Division at Microsoft, Voskuil assisted with the integration of DesktopStandard PolicyMaker into Windows Server 2008 as Group Policy Preferences and of DesktopStandard GPOVault into the highly successful Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP) as Advanced Group Policy Management (AGPM), and built an influential team to design and deliver a platform which stands to revolutionize systems management.

Voskuil holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he had a successful career as an F/A-18 pilot, Top Gun graduate and Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor. He developed a flight operations management and scheduling software system that was used across the Hornet community. Voskuil is a three-time Microsoft Most Valuable Professional in management and contributor to TechNet and other publications.
