BeyondTrust Chief Technology Officer Marc Maiffret to Speak at ISSA-LA Sixth Annual Information Security Summit on Cybercrime Solutions
Los Angeles, March 31, 2014 - Marc Maiffret, Chief Technology Officer of BeyondTrust, is one of the outstanding speakers at the Los Angeles Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA-LA) Sixth Annual Information Security Summit on May 16, 2014, at Hilton Universal City Hotel in Los Angeles. The theme of the Summit, The Growing Cyber Threat: Protect Your Business, emphasizes the financial impact of cybercrime on all organizations, and it highlights finding solutions to protecting and securing private information on the Internet.

Mr. Maiffret joined BeyondTrust via the acquisition of eEye Digital Security, which he co-founded in 1998 and served as Chief Technology Officer. He is an industry visionary having created one of the first Vulnerability Management and also Web Application Firewall products, which have been deployed worldwide and won numerous product awards. Mr. Maiffret is also a security research pioneer, credited with discovering some of the first major vulnerability discoveries in Microsoft software and leading one of the world’s most renowned security research teams.
His expertise led Mr. Maiffret to accept three separate invitations to testify before the United States Congress on matters of national cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection. He famously discovered the first Microsoft computer worm, “CodeRed.” He has been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers including the Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Entrepreneur Magazine, Security Week, SC Magazine, PC World, and Computer World. He has been interviewed on CNN and Fox News and appeared in MTV's “True Life: I'm a Hacker.” He was also named one of People Magazine's 30 People Under 30.
The ISSA-LA Summit is the only educational forum in Los Angeles specifically designed to encourage participation and interaction among all four vital information security constituencies: (1) business executives, senior business managers, and their trusted advisors; (2) technical IT personnel with responsibility for information systems and the data they contain; (3) law enforcement; and (4) information security practitioners with responsibility for ensuring the security of sensitive information.
