BeyondTrust Becomes Industry Standard for Cloud and Virtualization Privileged Identity Management
Company Puts Stake in the Ground in High-Growth Markets for Privileged Access
CARLSBAD, Calif., — March 31, 2011 — BeyondTrust, the leading provider of privilege delegation and authorization management, today announced substantial market penetration of the PowerBroker Suite in cloud and virtualization environments.
In early 2010, BeyondTrust began to re-architect the PowerBroker product line to meet the demands of new elastic computing environments that Global 2000 customers are rapidly adopting. The prolific use of virtualization and cloud models characterized by multi-hybrid architectures are providing these customers with notable cost benefits, but are also introducing added complexity when it comes to privileged access. To assist with new customer demand, BeyondTrust grew its reseller Privilege Partner Program globally by 300 percent as well as adding immixGroup and Tech Data.
BeyondTrust also achieved record new customer sales last year expanding penetration into virtualization and cloud environments, as well as into mission-critical Linux-based server projects that are even more common in these environments. For the first time in history, the total number of PowerBroker licenses on a Linux environment surpassed 35 percent of the total install base.
“Last year we saw a clear trend towards migration of critical platforms and applications to Linux-based servers. Customers recognize the need for access control and privilege delegation in order to meet security and compliance requirements and as a result our Linux market share increased by 35 percent,” said John Mutch, CEO of BeyondTrust.
In 2010 BeyondTrust introduced the cloud-based implementation of its SUDO conversion utility (PAAS) to make it easier for cloud customers to migrate from SUDO, resulting in the company now having over 200 customers in every major vertical segment using or testing the conversion tool. The company also introduced PowerBroker for Virtualization. Two of the world’s five largest banks standardized on PowerBroker for Virtualization for their private cloud environments. In addition to partnering with Qualys, together their integrated solution now enables customers to secure remote root access of UNIX systems in the cloud. As a result of this partnership, BeyondTrust was able to attract a pipeline of the top four telecommunication companies globally.
For 2011, the company will release updated versions of its flagship products and will continue to add new partners and customers to its portfolio.
