BeyondTrust Announces New Content Templates to PowerBroker Desktops, Data Loss Prevention Product
Version 3.3 Features Database Content Templates and Multiple Template Content Sources
CARLSBAD, Calif. – Dec. 13, 2011 – BeyondTrust, the leading provider of privilege delegation and authorization management solutions, today announced PowerBroker® Desktops, DLP Edition v3.3, featuring database content templates, multiple template content sources and Active
Profiler email notifications.
The new database content templates in PowerBroker Desktops, DLP Edition v3.3 can retrieve data fields from various databases, including SQL Server, Oracle and DB2, as well as from CSV and text files. The retrieved data fields are fingerprinted and precisely identified at storage and
during transfer.
"We are continuously striving to add features to PowerBroker Desktops, DLP Edition to give our customers flexibility, in addition to enhanced security for their organizations," said Andrey Kolishchak, senior director, program management, DLP at BeyondTrust. "Financial, healthcare, retail, education, and public organizations store and process huge volumes of non-public
personal data that must be guarded to comply with various regulations and this data may contain details which are difficult to identify and classify with a traditional data leak prevention approach. The easiest and most effective way to protect the data is through the control of personal IDs,
such as first and second names, so that even if the personal details are leaked, without a link to the person's specific personal ID the information is meaningless and the organization is protected. PowerBroker Desktops, DLP Edition v3.3 enables companies to do just that."
PowerBroker Desktops, DLP Edition v3.3 also features multiple template content sources, greatly increasing detection precision and reducing false-positives. With this feature, various content templates can be combined to precisely identify required data. For example, database templates
with customers names can be combined with credit card template data, ensuring that an alarm is only set when the name and credit card information appear together.
With new Active Profiler email notifications, a security or compliance officer can configure email alerts instead of having to watch the PowerBroker Desktops, DLP Edition dashboard. Anytime suspicious activity is detected, a notification with detailed information is sent by email, enabling the officer to respond immediately, without wasting valuable time watching and waiting for something to appear on the dashboard.
PowerBroker Desktops, DLP Edition adds an additional layer of security management control to the BeyondTrust privilege identity management and administrative rights portfolio by helping customers centrally monitor and control data flow and assess sensitive content loss risks that can
threaten organizational brand and compliance requirements. The solution is a content-driven data loss prevention system that effectively polices sensitive data on desktops by monitoring and controlling data transfer across distributed and diverse network environments, regardless of
content type.
PowerBroker Desktops, DLP Edition reduces the risks of information loss and leakage by increasing IT visibility into, and jurisdiction over, endpoint violations via file encryption, usage and permission controls to intellectual property. The software enforces content-centric policy
regarding the processing, use, transit and storage of sensitive data that is protected from theft and accidental leakage. The content is dynamically classified through the deep data inspection with ability to identify partial and modified sensitive content. IT departments can centrally define
and manage their information security and – centrally and in real time – enact measures including alerts, encryption and transfer blocking to safeguard intellectual property. Furthermore, administrators and security personnel are granted full audit reports of intellectual property activity
and access.
In comparison with other DLP solutions, PowerBroker Desktops DLP features the unique Active Profiling technology. The Active Profiler performs the intelligent monitoring and profiling of all data movements and automatically detects data leak threats. The Profiler is autonomous intelligent
system which efficiency does not depend on configuration. This innovative approach turns DLP into a new commodity class, such as anti-virus solutions, breaking application barriers for many organizations.
